Submitted by EKFH on 06-03-2015

Kimberley, BC… Recently Mountain City Travel in Kimberley held an extremely successful “Travel Beyond Your Expectations” event with a twist fundraising component for EKFH and the maternity unit at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

The travel focused evening was a sold out and featured talks from representatives of G Adventures, Tauck River Cruises and Oceania Cruises. The evening was further complemented by fabulous food, beverages and amazing door prizes.

Proceeds from the tickets sold were donated by Mountain City Travel to purchase a Fetal Doppler monitor for the local maternity unit.

Diane Manson, Owner of Mountain City Travel shares, “It is very exciting for our organization to provide the funds for such a needed piece of equipment at the regional hospital. We fully support EKFH and its varied initiatives to improve health care in the East Kootenay.”

Doppler fetal monitor or Doppler fetal heart rate monitor is a hand-held ultrasound transducer used to detect the fetal heartbeat for prenatal care. It uses the Doppler effect to provide an audible simulation of the heartbeat. The monitor has already been received at the maternity unit and in use.

EKFH sincerely appreciates the support of Mountain City Travel and its desire to make a difference in the quality of care offered at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
