A Warm Embrace Update – NICU Construction Underway

It’s official – we are building! 

Construction began on the NICU at East Kootenay Regional Hospital on March 24, 2025. Once complete the changes to the unit will include new partitions, card access doors, ceilings, flooring, lighting and fixtures, along with a new secure medication room, a quiet feeding room, five workstations and a dictation area. Additional equipment includes a video/intercom system, an infant abduction prevention system for the department and hand hygiene sinks. We are anticipating renovations to be fully complete by January 2026.

The NICU is going to be life changing for newborns and their families across the East Kootenay. On behalf of all of us, thank you for supporting the Warm Embrace Campaign.
