The Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary donation brings A Warm Embrace Campaign to its $1.8 million goal.
November 4, 2024
The sky is a bit brighter tonight with the first star being lit for the East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s Starlite Campaign, thanks to the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary (KHCA)! The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has reached its goal for the Warm Embrace Campaign to bring a Tier 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to East Kootenay Regional Hospital with the generous support of the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary.
The fabulous group of volunteers in Kimberley have donated another $150,000 towards the campaign. Along with last fall’s donation, this brings their total contribution to the NICU to $290,000. They have given over $1,000,000 to health care improvements for Kimberley and the East Kootenay. The funds were raised through their thrift shops in Marysville and Kimberley.
Pegg Davidson, President of the KHCA, is so proud of her team. “The members of Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary are thrilled to top-off the Warm Embrace Campaign with a donation of 150,000 this year. Our volunteers so often express the joy they receive in being a part of giving to health-care projects in Kimberley and the wider East Kootenay region.”
The Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary is 100% volunteer based. Their team of around 140 members run two fantastic Thrift Stores in Kimberley and Marysville and the medical equipment Loan Cupboard. They are always welcoming new members to join their integral part of the East Kootenay healthcare community. Thanks to the generosity of our community, corporate partners, and dedicated supporters, EKFH can move forward with the project to bring a tier 3 NICU to East Kootenay Regional Hospital. This achievement would not be possible without the tireless work of the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary, and all those who have donated to the campaign.
The new tier 3 NICU will transform the lives of our tiniest patients and their parents, allowing care to be provided close to home in the East Kootenay.
Brenna Hong commented, “I am so thankful that we have this amazing partnership with the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary. They have a wonderful team who work extremely hard, and this enables us to do our job at bringing advanced health care to the East Kootenay. I love this organization so much!”
The Warm Embrace campaign goal is reached, but our commitment to improving health care across the region never ends. We will be continuing to accept donations to A Warm Embrace throughout the rest of 2024. All funds raised over our goal will be dedicated towards continuing to improve pediatric and neonatal care at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
