Donate towards A Warm Embrace this #GivingTuesday

East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) is excited to announce its participation in Giving Tuesday, on November 28, 2023. Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. EKFH is rallying support to raise $55,000 on Giving Tuesday, towards the Warm Embrace Campaign to bring a Tier 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

$55,000 is equal to the cost of a new Giraffe Warmer, a piece of equipment that will be vital in ensuring the well-being of our smallest and most vulnerable patients. The warmer is designed to create a safe, warm, and controlled environment for premature babies, creating a nurturing space that promotes growth, comfort, and health for these delicate newborns.

“We are passionate about ensuring that the best care for our premature babies is available closer to home in the East Kootenay,” said Brenna Baker, Executive Director at the Health Foundation. “The collective efforts on Giving Tuesday will make a tangible difference in their lives and those of their families, offering them the warmth, comfort, and care they need during their earliest moments.”

Contributions made on Giving Tuesday will directly support the Warm Embrace Campaign, which has raised nearly $500,000 in support of the NICU upgrade since July. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring us one step closer to providing a Tier 3 NICU in the East Kootenay for our smallest patients.

Donations will be accepted in person at the EKFH office at the entrance to East Kootenay Regional Hospital on November 28, 2023 from 10am to 2pm, or can be made online at ekfh.ca. For those unable to donate on Giving Tuesday, donations are also accepted through EKFH’s annual Starlite Campaign online or by contacting the office at 250-489-6481.
