Announcing the Columbia Valley’s Most Prestigious “Phantom” Event

Submitted by EKFH on 05-09-2013

Invermere, BC – The golf course isn’t booked and the players don’t show, but the money raised by the Phantom Celebrating Health Care Golf tournament, brought to you by Kootenay Savings and the East Kootenay Foundation for Health, is the only event in town where you can be a “no-show” and still make a difference.

The charitable event, billed as a “phantom” event supposedly scheduled for mid-September is a unique way to carry on the tradition of the now-defunct annual Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament, and is a simple and easy way for donors to show their support for the Invermere & District Hospital. And, because there is no actual event, each and every dollar raised will go directly to the cause.

So, forget marking your calendar; there’s no tournament to play, no hole to sponsor or prize donation to give away. Don’t round up your foursome or buy new tees and balls, because this tournament’s not happening, no way, not at all.

“Though the original Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament no longer exists, all kidding aside, the need to continue improving healthcare in the Columbia Valley is very real,” shares Donna Grainger of the East Kootenay Foundation for Health. “The Invermere & District Hospital requires much needed medical equipment and enhancements to increase patient comfort, and along with our signature sponsor Kootenay Savings, we’re inviting the people of the Columbia Valley to help make those wishes a reality. For past players and sponsors this is a great opportunity to continue giving back to local health care, and because no golf is played, non-golfers can get on board as well. “

“Knowing the commitment and passion the East Kootenay Foundation for Health has to improving local healthcare, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with them”, enthused Kootenay Savings Community Liaison, Aron Burke. “We’re also very excited to announce that Kootenay Savings will match every donation made between now through to the end of November!“

Donations can be made online at www.ekfh.ca, mailed to EKFH at 13 – 24th Ave N, Cranbrook, BC V1C 3H9 or at any branch of Kootenay Savings. All donors will receive a charitable receipt, and will be recognized on donor boards in Kootenay Savings’ Invermere and Radium Hot Springs branches as well as the Invermere Hospital.

It’s official; you’re invited to the Phantom Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament. Please don’t come! But please, feel good about not attending, stay home, relax, enjoy time with friends and family, and know that you’ve helped support quality healthcare in your community!
