INVERMERE, BC… The organizing committee of the 3rd Annual Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament at Copper Point is pleased to announce that it will be honouring the late Dr. Johnson Albert Rose at this year’s event.

Dario Cescon, Kootenay Savings VP: Marketing, shares, “Kootenay Savings sponsorship of this tournament has been focused at raising money for medical equipment for the redevelopment project at the Invermere Hospital.   We understand that Dr. Rose was very instrumental in getting the project approved so we felt it would be appropriate to dedicate a hole in his honour.”

Dr. Johnson Rose was a ?quiet motivator’ behind the $4.3 million ER Department project.   He helped to push forward the vision of the ER expansion through meetings with local and regional physicians, MLAs, Mayors, many politicians and Interior Health.  His commitment was focused on the benefits a newly expanded ER could offer the Columbia Valley communities and the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

East Kootenay Foundation for Health anticipates that the 3rd Annual Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament may be the final major fundraising event for the ER project resulting in all equipment needs committed with funding, thanks to the funds raised at the Kootenay Savings sponsored Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournaments and other public donations.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday, August 21 at the Ridge Course on Copper Point, with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start.   Entry fee is $125 with a charitable receipt of $50 going to the emergency department campaign.

It is an 18-hole schramble-format tournament with 5 hole in one prizes up for grabs including a trip for two for four days to the Bellagio in Las Vegas (Invermere Travel World), $20,000 cash (QTrade Financial Group & Kootenay Savings MoneyWorks), Chevrolet automobile (Chalet GM), Harley-Davidson motorcycle (Harley-Davidson of the Kootenays) and a Beachcomber Spa (Beachcomber Cranbrook); as well as 5 closest to the pin prizes and much more.
