Congrats Matt Fraser & Kootenay ICE

Letter to the editor of all East Kootenay Media:

I am so proud of the relationship East Kootenay Foundation for Health has had with the Kootenay ICE for many years but even more so this year.

It is an incredibly humbling moment to learn that Matt Fraser has been nominated for consideration of receiving the WHL Humanitarian Award.

His personal commitment to his and billet family transferred to a tremendous opportunity of giving back to community.   The Shoot for the Star fundraising project was a dream for $5,000 and kept growing to over $14,000.   All the while Matt and the Kootenay ICE organization were always asking what more can we do.

As our community is in a week of promoting Cranbrook as Hockeyville, what an amazing testament to what hockey means on and off the ice.

To Matt, you inspired the gift of giving and for that EKFH will always be truly grateful.   Consideration of this Humanitarian Award is not just about EKFH, it is to honour you for all those school presentations, mentoring kids and for truly showing what the human spirit can give.

I wish you good luck in the playoffs, on the award selection and always for a future of great dreams realized.

Good luck as well to Mark Holik on his nomination for WHL Coach of the Year.

Sincerely,

Donna Grainger, Executive Director

East Kootenay Foundation for Health
