RADIUM, BC…    Fundraising for the Invermere District Hospital emergency department  continues and the project has been graced with a donation from members of the Edgewater/Radium Ladies Auxiliary.

Giving from the heart is something this small group of energetic women take very seriously.  Made up from members living in the Edgewater and Radium  area the importance of the Invermere ER means a lot for this group.

The Auxiliary is known for giving annually to their local hospital but it is what they did this year that makes them exceptionally proud.   Small but mightly, they have gathered together to do a tea, bake sales and a farmer’s market to reach their goal of doubling their annual gift.  Their hard work paid off with a wonderful gift of $2,000 for their amazing efforts.  These funds are being directed toward the purchase of much-needed crash carts in the soon to be open emergency department.

” I was born in the original Invermere Hospital, attended the one room school house and now so many years later am able to see the dedicated work of our Auxiliary continuing to help our Invermere Hospital,” shares President Dorothy Brown.

Not only did the Auxiliary’s generosity aid the ER but additional funds were also gifted to the Alberta Children’s Hospital and money allocated toward a bursary for a local medical student.

Together for Everyone! is a partnered fundraising initiative between the Health Care Auxiliaries of the Columbia Valley and East Kootenay Foundation for Health.    To date just over $309,000 in funding has been designated for equipment purchases.  To make an on-line donation for the ER visit www.ekfh.ca or drop by the hospital.
