Fernie Rotary Golf Foundation presents $4,500 to EKFH

Fernie, BC … This week East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s Chair Brian Clifford and Donna Grainger, Executive Director had the privilege to attend the Rotary Club of Fernie members’ barbeque and to also pick up a donation of $4,500 for its A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign.

The tournament held this past June, blessed two charities (A Clear View and Rotary’s Shelterbox Project) with a 50/50 split of the proceeds raised from the event. The golf day was under beautiful blue skies and a full slate of golfers didn’t hesitate to not only enjoy a day of golf but opened their hearts (and wallets) to support the Beat the Pro event, silent and live auctions.

Rotary’s motto is service above self and in this case the gesture of dedicating a charity golf tournament , an invite and warm welcome to a Rotarian’s home for a shared celebration of helping people certainly unites the efforts of many individual members of Rotary, the Fernie Rotary Golf Foundation and both the East Kootenay and Elk Valley Hospital Foundations.

People, service clubs and organizations from throughout the region are rising to the occasion and in just 10 short months; the drive to raise one million dollars to fund a digital stereotactic mammography unit has surpassed the $825,000 mark. EKFH would like to see the fundraising goal met by Breast Cancer Month in October 2012 (one year ahead of schedule) if you can help, please make a donation today; visit www.aclearview.ca.

EKFH wishes to thank all those who took time to support the Rotary Club of Fernie’s 2012 golf tournament.

Rotary Club of Fernie members Aysha Haines, Past President Casey Brennan, President Emma Dressler, Evelyn Cutts (also one of the Faces of the Campaign) are thrilled to present a cheque of $4,500 to EKFH’s Brian Clifford & Donna Grainger.
