Hats On – Thanks to Telus Community Ambassadors

Cranbrook, BC… Normally when we celebrate something exciting we say “Hats Off to ___” but in this case it’s “Hats On – thanks to the Telus Community Ambassadors”.

When East Kootenay Foundation for Health received a request for more chemotherapy hats and scarves for the Cranbrook Oncology Unit (located at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital) a flurry of organizations and individuals offered support.

One of the groups rising to the cause is the Telus Community Ambassadors whose creative hands from their Cranbrook/Creston members brought some funky hats that are provided complimentary to individuals on the unit.

These Telus Community Ambassadors are no strangers of supporting health care facilities throughout the East Kootenay having supplied lap blankets (oncology/renal), head sets, baby bags and more. The local group is part of a large pool of retirees and team members who are passionate about volunteering in the communities where they live, work and serve. More than 3,000 current, former and retired Telus team members volunteer as volunteer Telus Community Ambassadors in 23 clubs in communities across BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

The oncology unit is grateful to accept scarves (new only please) and a variety of chemotherapy hats (lighter wool or materials for summer months). Donations can be directed through the East Kootenay Foundation for Health, 13 24th Ave N, Cranbrook, BC.

L-R: Val Paolini & Deb O’Brien (RNs) accept funky hats from Telus Community Ambassadors Jeannette Oddy and Edith Leclair.
