Kootenay Savings Sponsored Tourney raises $18,728 for Invermere Hospital

Submitted by EKFH on 23-08-2011 Invermere, BC…. The Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament completed this past Saturday and what a day it was! Under what can be termed almost perfect weather conditions 76 golfers challenged the beautiful Copper Point Ridge Course to raise funds towards the purchase of a new fetal monitor for the Invermere District Hospital Pediatrics Unit.   Dario Cescon, Kootenay Savings’ Vice-President of Marketing couldn’t have summed it up better, “What a remarkable day when you can combine fantastic weather, an amazing golf course, fun and friendship and have an opportunity to raise funds for the Invermere Hospital. Kootenay Savings is extremely proud to be the title sponsor of the Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament and we look forward to returning again next year.”     East Kootenay Foundation for Health Executive Director Donna Grainger also adds, “In a year where the economy continues to challenge many individuals, businesses and golf tournaments too; the spirit of community continues to shine through as demonstrated by the number of sponsors that stepped forward to join in the fundraising goal for this annual tournament. Combine that spirit with the help from volunteers from Kootenay Savings (Invermere and Radium branches), the Windermere Health Care Auxiliary, the Copper Point Golf Course and the golfers, support for health care in the Columbia Valley has benefitted greatly.”   The organizing committee of the 2011 Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament sincerely thanks all those who supported this year’s event through Hole-in One, Closest to the Pin, Hole & Cart sponsorships, prizes for the silent auction and several financial donations.   The end result after a great day of golf is the confirmation of a fetal monitor for the pediatric unit arriving at the Invermere Hospital in the very near future.      After 4 straight years of attending the Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament the Calgary foursome of Gary Voncina, Carla & Marc Moreau and Phil Robart accept the trophy for their ‘hot -3 underpar’ winning team score from Donna Grainger, EKFH Executive Director.
