What started out as a quilt guild challenge from Wasa for the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign resulted in the outpouring of generosity not just for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital but additional funding support for the Golden & District Hospital thanks to members of the Mountain Magic Quilt Guild in Golden.

The Golden Guild asked East Kootenay Foundation for Health Chair Linda Berukoff and Donna Grainger (Executive Director) and Erica Phillips, Interior Health Administrator for Golden/Invermere to join them for an evening of show and tell and friendship followed by two surprise donations. The first $500 was to honour Lisey Lalonde, a local Golden resident who is the face of the A Clear View campaign and the second $500 gift was to assist in the purchase of a pediatric crib for the local hospital.

“This type of support really emphasizes the role of the hospital foundation in ensuring that while it may work on large campaigns such as the A Clear View, we also have to commit to not losing sight of needs of the local facilities, in this case a crib for Golden,” shares Donna Grainger.

EKFH presently holds over 30+ funds in trust for health care facilities located throughout the East Kootenay. When a donation is made to a facility of a donor’s choice it is held for that specific use and cannot be allocated elsewhere in the region.
