Golden, BC…  Last December Suzanne Struthers from the Giant Steps Preschool decided to honour on of her student’s mother, Lisey Lalonde, one of the faces of the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign by starting a poinsettia fundraiser that brought in over $530 during December.

Suzanne and the pre-schoolers efforts haven’t stopped there with various activities and encouragement to friends and family the Giant Steps Preschool has since made an additional two gifts bringing their trio of fundraisers to a total of $1,125.

“In a campaign that is focused on raising a million dollars, it is so rewarding to see individuals and groups that realize that every penny counts and makes a difference. It is not the size of a gift but in the giving that will make the A Clear View a success,” explains Donna Grainger of East Kootenay Foundation for Health.

Golden’s Lisey Lalonde recently shared, “Being involved with this campaign has given me the chance to say thanks. Thanks to every doctor, nurse, therapist, pharmacist, volunteer and donor that help make every breast cancer patients’ journey easier.”

From Golden to the Elk Valley, Creston to Invermere, Kimberley, Cranbrook and all those little towns in between the ability to bring the best in breast cancer screening and diagnostics to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital will become a reality.
