RCR Fernie Alpine Resort $500 Summit Funds Aids ICU

Submitted by EKFH on 23-01-2015

Fernie, BC… Resorts of the Canadian Rockies and the Fernie Alpine Resort is the latest group to show its support for EKFH and its $1,000,0000 fundraising drive for equipment for the new ICU Redevelopment Project at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Karin Pepper of RCR & Fernie Alpine Resort presented a cheque of $500 through its RCR Community Summit Fund to the regional hospital foundation. The RCR Community Summit Fund supports many worthwhile organizations and is committed to the communities they operate in and are dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The ICU donation is a welcomed addition to EKFH’s fundraising efforts. Equipping the new 6-bed unit is vitally important as the ICU is traditionally known as the department that treats the sickest of the sick including trauma cases, cardiac & stroke care and multi-system failure. The EKRH ICU is the only one in the region and is supported by four specialized physicians (internists) and a team of nine specially trained registered nurses.

Joining in to celebrate the gift were representatives from the Elk Valley Hospital Foundation. The two foundations work individually and collaboratively funding equipment and/or patient comforts for the Elk Valley hospital and other health care facilities as well as the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

To support the ICU Redevelopment Project donations are accepted through www.ekfh.ca, at your local hospital or at EKFH’s office ~ 13 24th Ave N, Cranbrook, BC V1C 3H9.
