Shoppers Drug Mart Raise Critical Funds for Creston Valley Hospital Maternity Unit

Creston, BC… With the combined efforts of Shoppers Drug Mart, its employees and customers, (Creston) will now have improved access to services and programming supporting women’s whole health in body, mind and spirit. The Shoppers Drug Mart 2012 Tree of Life fundraising campaign has harvested $ 2372.00 for Creston Valley Hospital Maternity Care Unit.

With over 1,200 Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix stores across Canada participating in the four-week campaign, the tenth annual Tree of Life campaign will provide support to over 450 Canadian Women’s Health charities. National in scope yet locally based, the Tree of Life campaign offers patients, customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to charitable organizations to ensure that resources and programming are available to meet the needs of Canadian women. In (Creston), the proceeds harvested by local Shoppers Drug Mart customers and employees will benefit the Creston Valley Hospital Maternity Care Unit.

“East Kootenay Foundation for Health is proud to be affiliated with Creston’s Shoppers Drug Mart and the Creston Valley Hospital in this wonderful fundraiser that benefits the hospital’s maternity department. The department is presently undergoing enhancements so the local community support and financial gifts from the Tree of Life Campaign has certainly made a positive difference for the service provided in Creston,” shares Donna Grainger, Executive Director of EKFH who holds the funds in trust for the Creston facility.

“The success of the 2012 Tree of Life campaign can be attributed to the support and commitment of our loyal customers and staff,” said Srinivas Chalagalla Pharmacy Manager/Associate Owner. “Shoppers Drug Mart has partnered with women’s health organization at national, regional and local levels, in order to provide direct support, ensuring that essential funding, resources and education are available to meet the needs of Canadian women. We are pleased to present this year’s Tree of Life campaign proceeds to Creston Valley Hospital Maternal Care Unit.”

The Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life campaign is a four-week program held across Canada each fall. In support of leading women’s health organizations, customers, staff and Associate-Owners at over 1,200 Shoppers Drug Mart / Phamaprix locations raise funds through the purchase of the Tree of Life paper icons. Since 2002, the Tree of Life campaign has raised more than $17 million for Canadian health charities. In 2012, over 450 Women’s Health charities across Canada will benefit from the campaign’s proceeds with 100 per cent of funds staying in the community where they are raised.
