Moyie, BC – With a few snowflakes in the air and the anticipated hustle and bustle of holiday shopping around the corner East Kootenay Foundation for Health is preparing for its largest annual holiday fundraiser ~ the Starlite Campaign.

The 6th annual event is scheduled to kick off at the end of November coinciding with the City of Cranbrook’s annual light up festivities. In the meantime the foundation’s volunteer and dedicated Starmakers have been busy refurbishing the stars thanks to the generous donations of lighting materials from BL Lighting in Vancouver (Betty Lou Pacey & team) and Jim Amy of EB Horsman in Cranbrook.

The Starlite Campaign is also refocusing slightly as it becomes the sole signature event of EKFH, including a new refreshing logo and a focus on supporting community health care initiatives across the region.

According to Donna Grainger, Executive Director of EKFH, the stars are a tribute to the many donors (past, current and new) who recognize the importance of the foundation’s mission and believes that by lighting stars on the rooftop of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, the foundation and region can come together to make some holiday magic.

And making magic is already happening with a wonderful donation of $5,059.80 delivered to EKFH by the residents, managers and owners of the Eagles Nest RV Resort in Moyie. The gift will officially light the 1st star of the 2013 campaign. Joan Poweska, Larry Warren and Betty Shannon representatives from the resort were thrilled to hear the news and were equally as excited to share how the gift of caring for community came to be.

“The Eagles Nest RV Resort is in itself its own community. Over the past summer we have friends in our community who have had their share of health challenges specifically with a cancer focus. So as a group we decided to donate some of the funds from the many resort events and activities to support the regional hospital’s oncology unit. We never could have dreamed how successful this endeavour would be,” explains Poweska.

EKFH hopes that the lighting of the 1st star will encourage others to invest in the current and future health care needs of their community. When the stars shine brightly you help light a path for others. Every dollar and every star counts. Donate on-line at www.ekfh.ca, make a gift at your local hospital or health care facility earmarked for the Starlite Campaign or send some holiday cheer to East Kootenay Foundation for Health, 13 24th Ave N, Cranbrook, BC V1C 3H9.

EKFH is a leader in publically supported health care fundraising, practicing responsible allocation of funds that ensures your donation is going where it is needed most.
