Peter Borsato, Team Leader Respiratory Services and Jeannie Kambeitz, Unit Coordinator of ER & ICU celebrate the arrival of a new Puritan Bennet Ventilator System with Ron Goyette, Executive Director of the TB Vets Charitable Foundation (left) and Hardy Nielsen, Chair of East Kootenay Foundation for Health.

The TB Vets Charitable Foundation provided a funding grant of $37,500 to East Kootenay Foundation for Health to help with the purchase of the $83,000 unit for the emergency and intensive care departments at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Since the ventilator arrived at the regional hospital the unit has been put to extensive use with an average of 15 ventilator days per month with a high point of 22 in the month of May.   The TB Vets Charitable Foundation receives no government funding.  Donations to their annual Keytag Campaign and other initiatives allow TB Vets to help children and adults across B.C. in respiratory distress.
