The CUPE 2090 – A Clear View Challenge

Submitted by EKFH on 06-07-2012

Cranbrook, BC… Members of CUPE 2090 in Cranbrook are issuing a challenge to other unions in the East Kootenay to get behind East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s drive to bring a digital stereotactic mammography unit to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Last week CUPE 2090 President Mike Capuano invited Donna Grainger to stop by to pick up $1,000 with greetings from each municipality worker in the City of Cranbrook who made a donation to the worthwhile cause.

“When we first brought up the thought of supporting the A Clear View campaign we soon realized that almost every member had in one way or another been impacted with a loved one, friend or someone they know facing breast cancer. It was a unanimous decision to make this important gift,” shares Capuano.

It is just over 10 months since EKFH started it work on the mammography campaign and thanks to so many individuals, organizations, service clubs, corporations and fundraising events the goal has just touched over the $825,000 plateau.

The two-year drive to raise a $1 million is well-ahead of schedule and with the public’s help the reality of bringing this leading edge technology is within reach. When you make a gift you are helping to support families and friends across the East Kootenay who may be facing a breast cancer diagnosis.
