Tim Hortons Annual Smile Cookie fundraiser raises $10,500 for Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary and the East Kootenay Foundation for Health.

Cranbrook, BC. (October, 2011) – Community support never tasted so good! Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie fundraiser was a sweet success, raising $10,500 for the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary and the East Kootenay Foundation for Health. Kate Fox, CHCA Convenor for the Tim Hortons Cookie Campaign and Auxiliary members plus board representatives from the East Kootenay Foundation for Health gathered to celebrate with Matt Gareau (Tim Hortons Restaurant Owner) and new baby daughter Emma, Nancy Lascak and Denis Demers (Store Managers) on October 17 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital to receive the Smile Cookie donation.

“I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped to make this year’s campaign such an overwhelming success,” said Matt Gareau, Tim Hortons Restaurant Owner. “Raising awareness for the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary and East Kootenay Foundation for Health through the Smile Cookie campaign opens the door to more community involvement and ensures that the funds raised in our community stays in our community. I think that’s something we can all smile about!”

Entire proceeds from this year’s campaign will benefit the A Clear View – digital mammography campaign to bring a digital stereotactic mammography unit to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary was the first organization to provide a leadership gift of $250,000 for the campaign and the Tim Hortons Cranbrook Smile Cookie fundraiser is the event that brought the donations total to over $508,000 just prior to EKFH’s October 3rd public launch.

Nationally, Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners support more than 345 local charities through the annual Smile Cookie Fundraiser. In 2010, the campaign raised $3.1 million to help make a true difference in the communities where Tim Hortons operates.

The Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary is a volunteer-run organization that provides funding for hospital equipment and services to the regional hospital as well as contributing to health care programs thanks to the efforts of volunteers at the 8th Ave Thrift Store, Gift Shop and various fundraising and service efforts.

East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s mission is to provide funding to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and other community health care facilities in meeting the needs of the region.
